Adrienne Barnes is in her first term as a Garwood Board of Education member. She and her husband purchased a home in Garwood seven years ago. They love living in Garwood, and they have 2 children that attend Lincoln School. Mrs. Barnes is a proud educator in the NJ public school system. She began the 16th year of her career as a science teacher this past September. Mrs. Barnes also worked with the Merck Institute for Science Education for nearly a decade. During this time, she helped design and facilitate numerous professional development programs for grade K-12 teachers. She strongly believes that access to meaningful professional development is critical to teacher success. As a member of the board of education, she looks to improve communication and transparency between the board and the local community. In addition, she supports the use of evidence based instructional programs that address the needs of all students and help them achieve their highest potential as individuals. Mrs. Barnes hopes to work alongside the rest of the board of education members to ensure that the Garwood School District provides a superior education that serves the long term interests of all our children and the community.
