Ms. Kat Patterson won a three year board seat as a “write in” in the November 2015 election. She is in her second year serving on the Garwood Board of Education within the Education/Policy Committee. She is a lifelong resident of Garwood and the proud mother of a first grade student. When her daughter began kindergarten, she immediately began assisting any way she could in the classroom, learning more about the Garwood school district, the role of a Board member and how it all comes together to make sure it provides the best possible education to its students. Ms. Patterson brings her networking skills to the table and stays on top of town events. Most recently, she volunteered her time and attention in creating a “Police Appreciation Week” which was open to the public last summer. Residents donated meals to our Garwood’s finest, children created cards, and some entered the police station with a simple thank you and a handshake to show their appreciation. Blue ribbons were also placed around trees in Garwood as a symbol of recognition to our police. Ms. Patterson is a firm believer that anywhere you go… “Leave it better than you found it” and she hopes to do just that as a Garwood Board Member.
